duane davis and family

Duane Davis Interim Pastor

Duane Davis is both a preacher’s kid and military brat who moved every three years growing up—living as far North as New York and as far South as Alabama.  He attended a couple of schools that remained in relative obscurity until recent sports upsets—Appalachian State University (who took down Michigan’s football team in ’07) and George Mason (who knocked off UConn’s basketball team in ’06).  Duane and Julie have been married for nearly ten years and have three children, Aidan (8), Abigail (6), Stephen (4).  For the past five years, Duane and Julie have been members of New Life Presbyterian Church in Glenside where Duane served as a church planting apprentice —helping the congregation develop a vision for missional community groups—and as director of ministry development at New Life Thrift Shop—coordinating mercy relief efforts for those in need and working with local non-profit organizations the Thrift Shop supports.

Scott Crosby Pastor Elect

Scott Crosby came to liberti Fairmount with his family after ten years of pastoral work at Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Manhattan and is an advocate for personal change in the gospel.  Scott has been married to Anne Marie for eighteen years and they have two children, Ezra (11) and Honor (6).  Scott's greatest joy in ministry is getting to know Jesus more deeply in relationship with others.  For down time, Scott enjoys laughing with his wife, kids, and dog Sam (yes, Sam laughs too!).  He loves to cook and eat good food with friends.  He also enjoys a good pint of Guinness, playing the guitar, cycling, and studying Wing Chun Kung Fu.

GlennMcDowell

Glenn McDowell Pastor of New Church Development

Glenn's primary role is coaching couples who are crazy enough and have the bold faith to plant a new church (he coached Geoff in the early days of liberti).  Glenn came to love the city while an undergrad at the University of Pennsylvania.  He served as a pastor at Tenth Presbyterian Church in Center City Philadelphia; planted a Peace Valley Church in Bucks Co, PA; and was Associate Pastor at New Life Dresher.  He and Connie have 4 adopted kids, and live in Conshohocken.  Glenn is our one-armed wonder, and the best networked person in Philadelphia—you can't go anywhere without someone recognizing Glenn.

RachelHosan

Rachel Hosan  Administrator/Ministries Coordinator

Rachel graduated from Moody Bible Institute with a degree in Biblical Studies.  After working for 3 years in Germany at the Black Forest Academy, she found her way back home to Philadelphia, and started working for liberti in October 2009.  She and her trusty bicycle reside in the Brewerytown neighborhood of Philadelphia, and can be found often in the Wissahickon Valley Park, or parked outside of any number of coffee shops in the city.

Kate worked in various capacities at Ayuda Community Center in the Hunting Park neighborhood for 13 years and currently works independently as a bookkeeper for nonprofits and small businesses.  She and her husband, Hector, along with their two children are also part of a new church plant, Grace and Peace Community Fellowship, also located in Hunting Park, North Philadelphia.

liberti elders

JayBarbieri

Jay Barbieri  Elder

Jay is one of the "elder" members of our community, both in age and in his length of time at liberti.  Jay and his wife Debbie moved to Fairmount in 2004 as part of the original launch team for liberti church.  He began as a provisional elder (on loan) and then a formalized elder with liberti.  His role includes oversight of the deacons, the care team, and the preaching at the homeless ministry.

MikeSuh

Mike Suh  Elder

Mike arrived in Philadelphia in 2007 to begin his studies at Westminster Theological Seminary, where he is pursuing an MDiv that he expects to complete in the spring of 2011. When he's not studying or serving in his roles (elder and pastoral/church-planting intern) at liberti, he can likely be found having coffee/meals with folks, reading a variety of books , playing sports, listening to all sorts of music, or trying desperately to improve his too-often-neglected and therefore long-plateaued guitar skills. What you most likely will not find him doing is cooking anything other than a simple breakfast (doesn't mind cooking, loves eating, hates cleaning).
