Why We Are

The Gospel changes everything: We are people who are completely deconstructed and renewed by the story and work of Jesus.

The journey is pursued together: We are a group of Christians who welcome the skeptical, the curious, the annoyed, and the seeker because we don’t have it all figured out and we realize that we never will.

We seek to be humble because we are renewed only by the mercy of God, and not because of anything that we ourselves have done. We believe that living for God is hard and that living a life of love is counter-intuitive. It’s like going down a one way street the wrong way — and the only way to do that is to get in a convoy.
All things belong to God: God is the creator of all things. We celebrate the arts, music, sexuality, literature, and nature and seek to serve God with all our gifts, abilities, and opportunities. All of these things are often exploited and used selfishly, and yet all can be used to love God and love people and serve effectively in this world. Therefore, we seek to do all things with excellence for God’s pleasure.

We love Philadelphia: We love this city and constantly ask ourselves — “What does it mean to live a life of love here and now as a community?” We promote opportunities to serve and help.

We dream: We don’t just love Philadelphia and Philadelphians for what they are now, but hope to be a part of what this city could become.

Starting February 14th, we will be meeting at the Berean Institute.

The Berean Institute is located at 1901 Girard Ave, less than half a mile East on Girard from our Mennonite High School location.

Here people come together to experience God and his presence, through community. Developing, fostering, and nurturing relationships, is at the core of Liberti and we believe is central to our work as a body. They provide an opportunity for intimacy, mutual support, practical love and service and a place to learn about the Christian faith, prayer, what God is doing in our midst.
